Will You Be There?

Speculation about Michael Jackson's death is getting annoying.

People who were fans of Michael don't want to see all the negative publicity and all the saddening press that is swirling around the media. They want to remember him for the wonderful musical artist he was, and for all of his great songs.

People who were friends and family of Michael don't want to hear all these things, because not only are they sad about Michael, but they are also hurtful reminders of the loss they have just recently experienced.

People who did not like Michael Jackson don't want to hear anything about him. They just don't care. They'll change the channel.

So why are we still speculating about things that won't bring back the King of Pop? Because that's what the media does. They dig and dig until there is absolutely nothing left for them to make a dime off of.

In my journalism class we studied journalistic ethics. These don't really seem to apply for television media. TMZ can make up anything they want. The media can change an old cardboard box into the young gold-digging mistress of a dead celebrity.

Turn off your television today. Go outside and be in the real world. If someone looks at you with a judging eye at the beach, feel sorry for them. They don't know how to really live.
